Privacy Policy

The Southwest Colorado Travel Region is dedicated to preserving the culture and heritage of Southwest Colorado. The SWCTR web site was created as a public service to assist the regions preservation efforts and partners.

We strive to protect and preserve the region's historic and prehistoric resources for the use, enjoyment and economic benefit of present and future generations. The privacy policy for this site follows (all web pages start with www.swcoloradoheritage.com):

1. In general, we do not use cookies* to collect information. However, the site's mapping feature, which is a separate database, may use cookies during some search requests to track user sessions in order to provide an appropriate response. The information is discarded after the session. SWCTR services, which provide sensitive information, are available only to authorized users, and require the users to log on. These services use cookies to track user sessions to ensure this data is provided only to registered users. This data is logged and retained for security analysis, but will not be shared with other agencies except in the case of a criminal investigation.

*Note: A cookie file contains unique information a web site can use to track such things as passwords, lists of pages you've visited, the date when you last looked at a specific page or to identify your session at a particular web site. A cookie is often used in commercial sites to identify the items selected for a specific shopping cart application.

2. If you send us an email message with a question or comment that contains personally identifying information, we will only use the information to respond to your request and analyze trends. We may redirect your message to another government agency or person who is in a better position to answer your question.

3. For site management functions, information is collected for analysis and statistical purposes. This information is not reported or used in any manner that would reveal personally identifiable information, and will not be released to any outside parties unless legally required to do so in connection with law enforcement investigations or other legal proceedings.

4. We use a log analysis tool to create summary statistics, which are used for assessing user interests and identifying problem areas.

5. This site contains links to other sites, which also may assist our audience. SWCTR is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of other such web sites.
